anybody use the 6600M on AM?

do i have to adjust the power output down to 25watts or the radio will do it on its own tnx?

The 6000 series is fabulous on AM. I run my 6500 on AM almost daily. The carrier slider will automatically be at 100% which is very near 25W and if you modulate at 100% your PEP will be at 100W. I do run my processor in NORMAL, and those who only have conventional AM will complain on occasion if they get a little selective fading the modulation will be stronger than the carrier and distort. Those that have SAM like the flex users the synchronous AM will balance that back out in the receiver. I just need to dial my mic gain back a little bit.

Great on AM.
Some features don't work on AM and you cant quickly select upper or lower sideband like some other radios, but the sync detector works very well.
AM is why I bought my flax 6400M!0 -
