Electret Mic Recommendations for 6400

Member ✭✭

I did a quick search of the forum & I did not find this title. I did see a few comments here & there about the Flex hand mic & how to enable the bias.

So I am wondering who has good luck with their electret mic choice (other than the FH2 hand mic), directly using the 3.5mm mic input (3vdc bias) in the back of the 6400?

Also, I am not interested in headsets. I prefer to listen thru the powered speakers and use a mic boom.

Thanx - Bob W8RMV

A couple of years ago I bought an electret element from an advertiser in the back of QST. I replaced my Heil Pro Set dynamic with this element. It works great and very good audio reports. I would think it’s possible to install in a boom mike with a dynamic element. The cost was under $20. Plugged into the 6400 mic port, bias on.

I found my ProSet dynamic element output was too low, even with the preamp on. Too low for my regular use.

Thank you, Lionel. I'll peruse the back of my QST. - Bob

@Bob W8RMV you posted this in the FLEX-6000 SIGNATURE SERIES category. This type of post is better suited to be in the Peripherals & Station Integration category since it is not directly applicable to the FLEX-6000 hardware itself. I have moved your post to that category for greater visibility.

    Hi Bob,

I‘m really happy with the Heil Pro Set iC. This headset is superb and works directly wit the Flex 6xxx. It is really easy to adjust with with the onboard EQ.
