ISP Altice 1

Member ✭✭
Thinking from switching from Verizon FIOS service to Optimum’s Altice 1. Problem is, I’m led to believe that their modem is pretty restrictive. Does anyone use Altice 1, and if so, has it presented any problems for remote operation?

Someone also mentioned an alternate installation method, using a different modem?

    Bob,

I read some customers were able to get the price for life promo without the need for the all inclusive Altice One box. In those cases it is the Samsung set top boxes and separate cable modem. Downside is they need to be connected via cable.

If you go that route get the Arris TM1602G modem. It will be configured as 24 downstream and 4 upstream channels which will support the 400/35 speed tier.

Dave, given the fact that Altice’s 4K content is limited, the Samsung box would work. Thev4K content is not of interest to me. I’m currently connected with cables, so that’s not a problem. The problem with Altice is that their modem is integrated into the set top box. That box would have to be located in the basement, where my wired IP connections are fed from. Unfortunately, it’s not near any TV. I’ll cal u later to discuss. Thanks
