v3.1.8 upgrade results in both radio and PC SmartSDR Panadapters being on at the same time

Just upgraded my 6600M from the factory v2.4.9 to v3.1.8. I followed Michael Walker's nice on-line video (very helpful). All went smooth for both PC then the radio itself. Upon launching the new SSDR v3.1.8 on my PC with radio running the new v3.1.8, the dialog box on the PC screen now contains an unfamilair orange "disconnect" button to the immediate right of the familiar green "connect" button. Pushing "connect" results in the radio staying in receive (with panadapter and water fall) while the PC SSDR is showing the same panadapter and waterfall. The radio knob tunes the radio only but the audio follows the PC SSDR commands. When running WSJT via SliceMaster, WSJT responds only to the radio and not the PC (not good).

Powered everything off and rebooted PC then the radio. The radio started up in the receive mode with panadapter and waterfall display. I launched SSDR in the PC and this time chose the "disconnect" button, selected my radio in another dialog box and then hit disconnect. I then selected the "connect" button and everything came up fine with the radio shutting off with only the menu display showing on the radio panel (familiar operation). Closing SSDR on the PC and immediately re-launching it results in the legacy dialog box without the orange disconnect button showing. Selecting the green "connect" button immediately brings up SSDR on the PC without issue.

I re-installed v3.1.8 over the first install and it works the same. I imported all my previously saved v2.4.9 profiles into the new build and the results are the same. I quickly reviewed the v3.1.7 User Manual (Sep 2019) and couldn't find a description of this new dialog box.

My question: is this normal performance of the new build or did I do something wrong? Everything seems to work; just an added step to bring everything up the first time each day.

Thanks in advance for any insight

I haven't upgraded to v3.1.8 yet. But, I believe that is the intended behavior to use the M model's front panel to control SSDR. It may take a bit of fine tuning your settings to get things working the way you want. Plus the Persistence database should pick up.your updated settings at some point as well. James WD5GWY
