PG-XL Harm Temperature

Member ✭✭
edited December 2019 in SmartSDR for Windows

On the PG-XL Windows Utility it shows a "Harm" temperature.

What is this warning for and when will it occur.

Where is this temperature monitored?

How will it effect the operation of the Amp.

Thanks

    Ram,

Harm is the "harmonic suppressor" (a big 50 ohm internal resistor) it has its own temperature monitoring. You should not be able to damage the amp as it will automatically reduce the output power if the Temp or Harm go into the caution zone.

I operate all bands continuously at legal limit into a resonant antenna with zero derating of power. If you're SWR is too high then the amp will also derate. This is true for all solid state amps.

Unfortunately, the Windows Utility program doesn't show the display in the same format as the amplifier's front panel display.  We're trying to get the Windows app updated.

On the front panel, the primary heatsink temperature is the value to the left of the slash, and the harmonic load temp is to the right.  In normal operation you'll see the primary heatsink temp fluctuate quite a bit, but the harmonic load, not so much.

If you aren't already running it, please run firmware version 3.2.15, which is the current version.

The PA fans will go to maximum at heat sink temperature of 75 degrees C. Autonomous shutdown at 90 degrees C.
