Laptop transmit audio weak

When running remote 6300/6400 with KPA500 using an iPad there is plenty of transmit audio drive. But with a laptop PC there is never quite enough.
That's true with both old and new PC laptops, Win7 and Win10. Dell/Tosh/LG. Can get plenty of laptop transmit drive by plugging in a $12 USB lapel mike but don't want to carry extras when remote.
Am I missing a setting somewhere? How does everyone else running Windows SmartSDR with a laptop do it?
TNX. Dave.

right click the speaker icon for sound settings. Depending on which version of Windows you have find the microphone and hit properties. You should be able to increase/decrease the microphone gain.0 -
TNX Jim. The volume was at 100 but not the boost. They are now both at full speed and it seems to help. Will run some tests tomorrow. -Dave

This is a Windows issue. I don’t know why Microsoft does this but I have seen it on a number of machines. My Surface Pro is really low with everything set to max. Plug in a headset and bingo all the audio I need.1

This was my issue too. I came across this community thread and took the recommendation to order the Mpow lightweight headset. It has worked wonderfully and gives me the convenient option to use USB or TRRS connections. I recommend it to others now as well. Cheers to all. https://community.flexradio.com/flexradio/topics/usb-headset-solution0

That's what I was afraid of. Maybe FLEX can goose the transmit audio a bit in the next software release?
It certainly is nice to use a standalone portable computer (like the iPad) without having to add dangling wires just to get more transmit audio. Windows laptops are 'within range' but in my experience don't do the job without loud yelling.
