WIDE mode switch
WIDE mode bypasses the band pass filters. It also gives back nearly 10db of signal level which is very important when working weak signals. I used WIDE mode during a recent 160 meter contest. I could hear weak signals using my receive antenna that I could not hear when not in WIDE mode. However, I was not able to zoom in far enough to separate signals on the panadapter. I would like to be able to switch into WIDE mode regardless of panadapter bandwidth. This would allow for using a zoomed in panadapter. WIDE mode on demand. Thanks -Joe N3HEE

Turning on/off wide mode bandpass filters. I don't know how to do that, please explain.0

Joe:
As a work around, start a panadapter and slice for 160, then start a second panadapter and slice for another band. The radio will automatically go into the wide mode. You can now zoom in a far as you want. Make sure that both slices are using the same receive antenna.

If you zoom out far enough the bandpass filters will be bypassed and WIDE will be displayed in the upper right corner of panadapter. This is the default behavior and is by design when the receiver bandwith exceeds the bandpass filter width. I just want to be able to flip a switch to activate WIDE mode no matter what the receiver bandwidth is.1 -
Thanks Gayle. I will give that a try. That is what I am looking for. -Joe

I agree with Joe... I have noticed this improvement when bypassing the Band pass filters during weak signal work on 160 meters. Good idea about having this capability.
