Maestro Sidetone Volume

Hi Tim,

Is there a way to tame down the sidetone volume
of the Maestro? Switching between the computer
and the Maestro blows out the eardrums and the
Maestro sidetone volume is quite coarse and hard
to adjust. Not sure that this has been approached
before. I checked back, but only saw posts about
sidetone distortion. Any help would be most
welcome.

When in the CW mode activate the TX menu on the Maestro.  Sidetone volume can be set here..

    Hi Carl,

You missed my point. I know where the sidetone volume is on the Maestro.
But if you're using the radio side for things like logging, hitting one of the
macros on the the Maestro is way too loud compared to the radio sidetone.
I run 3 different CW nets and use the macros for the preambles for the
nets. That is when the volume is earsplitting. I can turn it down, but with
headphones, I only need a setting of 2 or 3. But on the radio side, I need
60-65 setting. If it were close, no problem, but put on headphones and
have the sidetone set at 60 through the Maestro and see how it sounds.
I have the headphones plugged in to the radio and not the Maestro.
But the sidetone volume is so coarse on the Maestro and hard to set on
the run. And I cannot use the macros on the Smart SDR/ computer when
    the Maestro is in operation.

    Hi Tim,

Thanks, but #$%, now I cannot duplicate what I was doing and until
I can, do not have your team waste their time as they have other
items identified and are working on. When I can duplicate what was
happening, I will take notes and relay it at that time. It could be just
what I was doing. Thanks for your attention to the matter.

Let me know if you can find a trigger for causing the behavior you reported.  I'll add it to the defect report.

    Hi Tim,

I cannot duplicate the problem now and am
of the opinion I am losing my mind. But the
only thing I would like to see looked at is
the sidetone volume could be tamed down as
it is much too loud at settings above 5 or
more. A more logrithmic lower range would
be appreciated. But I realize things are
looked at according to priority. Thanks for
    your attention to all matters.

No harm, no foul.  I'd rather have an issue reported, enter it into the bug tracker and then tag is as "can no longer duplicate" that miss it all together.

i have the same problem. The volume of the sending CW from the Maestro is very loud and like the above comment I would like to know how to reduce the sending volume.

In CW mode, enter the XMIT menu by touching the RF PWR area on the LCD screen. This will take you to the submenu to set the sidetone volume. Agree with this thread - sidetone volume setting from Maestro to SSDR do not track the same. When switching back and forth, the sidetone has to be adjusted. BRs, k3Tim

Thanks, but I know how to adjust the volume.
The trouble is it would be nice if the settings
could be set individually. If you're on the computer
and then go to cw on the Maestro and forget to
re-adjust the sidetone, there go the eardrums.
Also the sidetone on the Maestro is much too hard
to adjust becuse, for me, I run a setting of 65
on the computer/radio. On the Maestro I run a
setting of 3. For me if the Maestro sidetone
slider had a range of 1-10 it would be easier to
set. But the 1-10 range would have to actually
be that and not something that would give a range
where 6 would equal 60 on the computer/radio.
Or maybe a fine setting control for easier adjustment.

I would like this re-opened to maybe take a closer look
at the sidetone volume setting on the Maestro.
