DAX control panel - TX gain setting when operating FT8

On FT8 and other digital modes the DAX control panel's TX gain slider can be set anywhere between 0-100.  Where should the TX slider be set for optimal results?

Set it so that the Mike Meter does not peak into red

Yes, keep microphone peak meter from reaching the red (0dB). I set the processor to DX. Now the Flex is using CESSB which all but guarantees you won't splatter ( and a 2.5dB gain in your signal helps keep TX power lower).

Digital modes should not use any processing at all, so only use DX setting with phone, and always set audio input gain to prevent clipping and distortion no matter the mode.

Agree. Under mode I use DIGU which I believe also disables the processor and the EQ.

    Definitely use DIGU

That automatically disables EQ and Compression

Never use any form of EQ or Compression with Digital Modes

Actually, it is best to peak about -3 dB so you have some headroom on crowded bands with lots of signals (or Howard running 15KW)

Digital modes do NOT use any audio signal processing.
