SmartSDR for IOS over RJ-45 Ethernet connection

edited February 2018 in New Ideas
I’ve been running SmartSDR for IOS on my iPad Pro 9.7 for about 6 months. It works great but I occasionally get some audio breakup when running the panadapter at it’s maximum rate on high connection mode. I decided to try and connect my iPad to my network using a RJ-45 Ethernet connection. I purchased a Lightning to RJ-45 Ethernet adapter on Amazon for $30. It is completely plug and play and allows the iPad ( or iPhone) to connect to the network without any setting changes. It really works great and I’ve been running it for several days without a single audio breakup. Sure connecting via Wi-Fi is convenient but since my iPad is sitting on my bench next to my 6700 I think this is a great option. The only issue I’ve found is I have to disconnect the adapter to charge the iPad. I need to look around and see if there is some sort of adapter that will allow me to charge the iPad at the same time as using the lightning adapter.

Didn’t know you could do that. I have a iPad Pro and look forward to using it when my first Flex arrives.
