What conditions make the "Remote" button dimmed out versus being able to enable or disable remote audio/microphone?

Actually, it is because no default sound device is available.  Either recording or playback.

Thanks Bill, I give that a shot!  Or should I say 'a mouse pointer?'

If you don't have a valid speaker enabled on your computer/laptop, then the audio as "no where to go" and the Remote is greyed out.

I just had a laptop, with the audio speaker defaulted to a DAX channel and it was greyed. Right clicked on the speaker icon in the lower right tray, got it connected to the default speaker, then the remote became active.
