Balanced Connector - XLR?

Does the Balanced Input connector on the back of the 6700 really accept an male XLR connector (as the manual states)?  I attempted to insert one and it doesn't seem to fit.

    It really does. It's a dual connector that take 1/4" phone jack of the XLR.  If you line up the XLR properly, it'll work.

    In years of using XLRs, I've realized they are like USB connectors - impossible to get right the first time :-)
