ipad 4 does not discover Griffin PowerMate Bluetooth controller

I just received a Griffin PowerMate Bluetooth Controller and attempted to mate it with my iPad 4 for use with SmartSDR ios. The iPad does not see the controller. Other Bluetooth devices (speaker, headset) are discovered by the ipad with no problem. The controller is discovered by all of my Android devices. I am a casual ipad user so I suspect I am missing something fundamental. I would appreciate any assistance.

Hi Bob,
thanks for your post.
How did you find out that your iPad does not see the controller ?
Maybe you expect it to appear in the Bluetooth list in the Settings of the iPad, right ?
But for Bluetooth LE devices, that's not necessarily the case. Bluetooth LE works completely different to Bluetooth. Bluetooth and Bluetooth LE have not much in common other than the name. I also found it very unfortunate that Bluetooth LE is called "Bluetooth" as well - which causes many confusion and expectations.
However, if that's the case and that's the reason why you think your Griffin doesn't connect to your iPad, don't worry. Just follow the procedure described in the manual (go-to.me/smartsdr-tools-manual) and you should be set.
Please let us know about your progress.

Marcus, you were right. I was looking for the Griffin in the mating list. Once I configured it according to the manual, it works fine. Thanks so much for getting me straightened out. Thank you for a great application.
