Maestro Internal Software Updating

Most of the time when I boot the Maestro right after I choose v1.8.4.18 I get this message:

"Maestro Internal Software Updating (Step 3 of 4). Please wait..."

It then it boots normally. I installed v1.8.4.18 the day it was available and have had no unknown issues except this message occasionally.

I have yet to prove it but this happens only when I boot on battery power. Time will tell.

Has anyone else seen this?

Jim

    Hi,

I've seen it too. But it happens on external power also.

Be sure to do an "orderly" shutdown, by clicking the power button and waiting for Maestro to go to sleep -- until the LED back lights shut off.   The problem may occur when you shut off external DC power abruptly, so I'm guessing.

Mine has also done this since I updated to 1.8.4

    Hi,

No, I do not shut off the power supply as I am using
it for other equipment. Also it did it on the earlier
Maestro updates. I am not bringing it up as a complaint
as I wait a few seconds and continue on. I only replied
to the original poster to answer his question. For me it
    is not a problem.

    Jay,

I now am experiencing this with external power so it's not a battery only occurrence.

Ok so it's not, "only when I boot on battery power" then.
I just thought you were on to something.
Maybe it has nothing to do with power.
In order to fix the problem Flexradio will need to understand the problem.
The devil is in the details.
    Reporting them correctly, saves time.

With one of the changes we made in 1.8.4 to prevent the PIC controllers from getting hung in bootloader mode and preventing the Maestro to boot, we may have inadvertently created a situation where we are not getting some state information and the Maestro thinks one part of the software needs to be reloaded upon start up.  This situation is operationally benign, but will slightly delay the Maestro startup.  We are aware of the situation and it has been entered into our bug tracker for resolution.  Thanks for the heads up this was happening.
