My iPad and I, what happened?

HELP! I had SoftEther server working fine with my iPad. Then my computer died. I loaded up a new computer, installed SoftEther and set it up as before. Now my iPad WILL NOT CONNECT. I have a client installed on my notebook computer, and it connects just fine. When attempting to connect the iPad I get the following error message "The L2TP-VPN server did not respond" I triple checked all settings and am convinced it is setup exactly as on the old computer. (BTW all port forwarding rules are in place as before, since nothing changed here)

One thing I noticed on the server is that Port 443 says error.

all help will be appreciated.

If new computer then maybe new IP address. Did you forward the ports (5555?) to new IP address of computer running softether server?

Not the firewall. Like I said, all the obvious things have been done. My notebook will connect to the server, iPad will not.

Softether creates log files. Maybe you could look at those and find out why you're not connecting ?

Try deleting the VPN settings on iPad and recreate it. Dave wo2x

During my "SoftEther education", I had all sorts of bizarre connection issues wherein it would work sometimes, but not others. I had forgotten to **** the auto-suspend in the server computer's power-saving settings and the VPN server would go offline after 30 minutes and stay offline until I woke it back up. I couldn't believe how dumb I had been, because I was trying to attribute the difficulty to all sorts of more exotic causes. Speaking strictly to myself, "Keep it simple, ****." I hope your trouble turns out to be something you're willing to repeat for all our benefit.

I was able to revive the old computer with its Win XP OS. The iPad connects effortlessly with its Softether server. All settings identical. I am suspecting the network card (on the MB) in the new computer, an Intel brand, as being the culprit, as that is the only difference I can see. I ordered a Realtek card to try that. We shall see. I will report my findings.
