Hi All; Are there any plans to add a "bug" mode to the keyer to be used with a single lever key? I have a problem with straight keys and iambic keying is beyond my coordination, hihi. My current hardware model is to simplify, one reason why I replaced my FTdx3000D with a 6300. So, i'm not in a hurry to add an external keyer. My key works, but it's strictly manual, dots on one side dahs on the other. Auto dot keying would be a nice plus.

You can use a single lever paddle, e.g., a Vibro-keyer, and it works fine although you don't have the option of manual dahs.  Alternatively, you can plug something like that into the key jack and hook your bug up to the accessory jack in the back of the 6300 for full manual keying and have the best of both worlds.

I use a 1962 Vibrokeyer on my 6300, works as it should.
Iambic is something I could never get used to either.
    Good luck.

Due to arthritis in my hands, I've had to move back from iambic paddles to the single lever, and it works fine with the Flex, as is. I've been using it now this way for about 3-4 months (with a very nice Ukrainian paddle), and I'm still getting used to it, but my keying is far more reliable than with my beloved Begali's . . . no fault of the paddle.

Bug mode could be an option just using the key jack in front --- it's a SMOP but no telling if / when it would be available.   For a quick fix this setup below should work if you don't mind making a connection to both the jack and accessory connector.
    • Wire the DASH side of the paddle to the accessory jack  ( pin 4 & 10 )
    • Wire the DOT side of the paddle to the front jack ( tip & sleeve )
    • Pin 10 and the sleeve would be common and tied together at the paddle
    • DASHs would be manual
    • DOTs would be controlled by the speed setting on the internal keyer.
I don't use BUG mode this way but have my straight key connected to the ACC connector and paddle to the front jack and can use either at will with out any other changes.   Anyone see any issues with this?
