GPS Initialization

I have a 6700 with the GPSDO. Previously the GPS would stay active if the radio was off and the power supply turned on as evidenced by the power LED remaining yellow and the GPS indicating locked immediately once I started the radio. I'm running SSDR 1.5.1. At least that's what I remember.
n the process of trying to diagnose an issue I did a couple a master resets and I even downgraded to version SSDR 1.3.8 to see if it was related to the SSDR version. I reinstalled SSDR 1.5.1. I did a master reset. The radio is showing HW version 1.5.1.70, but now when I turn of the radio (but leave the power supply on), the GPS shuts down, in that the power LED is off and it has to require a GPS lock if I restart the radio even though the 13.8V has been on the whole time the radio was off.

Hi Mark
That's strange.. I tried this on a 6500 and shutting down the radio, the GPS went off also. I was messing with the TCP API commands previously and "trace" seemed to turn on a strange trace mode. Whenever a IP client connected, two flags would show up in the lower RHS of the screen.
A power cycle of the radio, GPS locked, power down and now the LED show amber light.
I realize this doesn't help, but I did feel your pain, if only briefly.
Hopefully you can get it sorted out, seems a s/w issue.
With Regards,

With all of the downgrades/upgrades did you remember to go to GPS tab and turn it back on? May sound silly but I own that T-shirt. BTW I had all kinds of problems a while back with the GPS, thought it was the software, thought it was the hardware. Much thrashing by me and even called Flex. Turned out to be a $0.99 SMA barrel connector had failed where i hooked the pigtail on the antenna to the long piece of LMR 200 that runs to the radio in the shack.

I hadn't done a GPS install as the GPS still appeared to be working, but after reading you post, I uninstalled and Installed the GPS and that fixed it. Thank you.0
