Elan,
Connect both your PC and Your Flex to the Netgear Switch, they will then talk to each other. I am old school, and believe that anytime you can get "wire" CAT5 directly to the router, the better off you are. In my home network, I get 50 MB download to computers that are wired, the laptops using wireless only get 30 MB download.
Good Luck.

I agree with John, Elan, if at all possible, use hardwire.

Elan,
You will need to sent IP Address for both the Flex & the Computer. They need to be in the same subnet (Computer-192/168.1.20, Flex-192.168.1.25 ) 255.255.255.0
Hop this helps.

Netgear GS105 is a switch and needs to be connected to a router via a cable or wireless bridge, I have used wireless bridges and they work fine.
Currently I use a NETGEAR EX6150 connected to the same switch and works perfectly.

You can connect the flex and PC directly and use auto-discovery. No internet to the PC that way. You can use a switch, too. You can connect a wifi extender to the switch to give network connectivity to the PC, allow assigned addresses to the devices, and still keep hard-wired goodness between the flex and PC. That's what I do. I also assign fixed DHCP assignments to my rig and computer in case the router connection is interrupted.1
