Squelch for All Modes?

Member ✭✭
With the advent of 1.4 and FM being added to the 6000 series, I assume that squelch will be offered.  My hope is that the squelch function will not be limited to FM mode only. Squelch is a very handy tool to reduce listening fatigue over long periods, no matter what mode in operation.

My guess is it will be available. I have both a 3000 and 5000 which I operate remotely and the squelch works just wonderfully on SSB. This is soooo great in a roundtable where all the signals are at a comparable level. It rivals a good FM situation with quiet except for the audio. I am with you in hoping the 6000 series will incorporate the same features.

I would agree while Rag chewing squelch would be a nice feature. Ian

Chomping at the bit to try built-in digital voice, too. Talk about no noise! Soon. Soon.

I just came across this and want to throw my vote into the pool for this one.  I LOVE squelch on all of my other rigs and to me it is one of the most MISSED functions on SmartSDR.

I'm hoping Flex implements it soon.

Any word from Flex on this one?

The squelch on the 1500/3000/5000 was really nice. During a roundtable with strong signals the squelch would provide a quietness that would rival FM QSO's with squelch.

This would very helpful but think that the GUI fairies may have to loose more wings should this be implemented for all modes.  :-)

A $30 cb radio has squelch, I love my 6300 but NO Squelch is not acceptable.

What are your plans if you have to wait longer for it?

I previously made a suggestion on how it could be graphically represented by teh GUI fairies.

You might need more than squelch with that Frequency.image
No offense intended, I listen to it too.

Is it as bad as 14.313?

    Not bad at all.
    Sometimes it's real good.
My 6500 gives it a 1 out of 1 SWR rating.
    I'd also give it a 1.
If a hole in one scores as 1, then its both a 1 and a hole!image

I love my 6700 and I have no plans on parting with it.  Without squelch, it isn't the radio I have running all day listening for a 6 meter opening, or the rig I have running and monitoring a couple frequencies my friends and I frequent.  This really is too bad too because the 6700 has 8 slices.  Without multi-mode squelch, I just don't use it quite like I would like to.  Like everyone else, I'm waiting....

A squelch feature for non-FM modes is on our enhancements list of things to do.  It just hasn't risen to the top of the heap yet.

I am just pointing out that is all the info Flex is giving out. Flex is working on a technology for noise mitigation, they have nothing more to say other than what has been answered.

And where do they say that?

Tim says squelch is on the to do list, don't see where anyone says its a secret where on the list it is so I asked.

Please post  a link to your inside info.

"Tim says....."   -- Yes I read what he said, I was asking a question that I was unaware wasn't acceptable to ask, again post a link and ill stop asking.

Dave, it seems very Clear Tim has answered this and there is nothing more to say. You keep going at this for some reason, just wait like everyone is and see. But you can keep asking if you want thinking a different answer will come, good luck, I hope you find the answer you want.

    Tim and only Tim,

Where on the to do list is all mode Squelch?

  • edited August 2015
Dave, it's several posts above. "A squelch feature for non-FM modes is on our enhancements list of things to do.  It just hasn't risen to the top of the heap yet." That is from several weeks ago in this thread. James WD5GWY

James what part of WHERE in that list of things to isn't clear?

    1st priority, 3rd, 5th, 9000th?

  • edited August 2015
Dave, I don't know the ansewer to that. Tim, nor anyone else has given a particular list and in what order things might be in on it. It could be in the next release, or it could be much later. Flex stopped publishing a Roadmap of such things when complaining about supposed deadlines for release dates slipped by. That was publicly announced by Gerald Youngblood the owner of Flex Radio, almost a year ago. I suggested to you by email a solution that would help. Bothe Slice receivers in your 6300 have independent controls that you can adjust to get around the problem till better comes along. Or, download the Flexlib API, and roll your own! :-) James
