Windows 10 Sluggish

I upgraded an older PC from Windows 7/32 to Windows 10/32 this past week.. Before upgrading, I uninstalled SmartSDR, DAX, and SmartSDR CAT. The Windows upgrade went well and I then re-installed SmartSDR. Smart SDR ran fine once I shut down the primary computer that I use for ham radio. It seems that multiple copies of DAX and SmartSDR CAT running on the same network are problematic. The good news is that SmartSDR seemed to run fine; the bad news is that my entire system is much slower and sluggish under Windows 10 as compared to Windows 7. I have done some troubleshooting and it seems like CPU utilization runs at 82% or so most of the time (I do not recall what it was under Windows 7). Looking at Task Manager, the primary process that is a resource hog is "Runtime Broker" which takes 25% to 30% of the CPU resources. I am not familiar with this background process, but I think that it is associated with "Live Tiles". I did turn-off all Live Tiles, but that did not seem to help. I also tried disabling this process, but Windows 10 turned it right back on.


This computer is used primarily for web browsing and email so it is not a serious problem, but if anyone out there has a suggestion for making the machine more responsive, I would appreciate your input. I wish I could have upgraded to Windows 10/64 and added more memory, but the upgrade did not present me with that option; That would not have fixed the CPU resource issue, however.


I will probably play with Windows 10 a few more days before upgrading the machine that I use for ham radio; I do use two monitors on that machine, so I may run into other issues.
