Accessory audio

I just wired up a cable to go from the 15 pin accessory connector on my 6300 to my Timewave Navigator sound card interface. While I realize that audio that takes this path has gone through an additional D/A conversion and another A/D conversion, over signals processed via DAX, these signals appear "cleaner" on my MixW digital mode software (presumably they would on other programs as well). With DAX there are sideband images only 40 dB below the signal peaks. With the accessory audio, these aren't visible, the signals just pop out oh the noise floor which is around -100 dB. I presume this is some artifact of the DSP. I haven't had any problems decoding the DAX signals, but I haven't done any A/B comparisons with marginal signals. I did discover the the signal level on the accessory jack is affected by volume settings and mute in SSDR. Would it be possible to have either a fixed level audio on the signals that is unaffected by AF gain settings like most other radios, of better yet, have independent setup parameters for these signals? 73, Mark

Hi Mark;
I cannot answer your question, however I am in the process of installing my 6300 at a remote location (VO1 area) and am still puzzled on how to best configure the 6300 for seamless remote operation. I am curious ably th ue use of the Timewave Navigator and any experiences you may have in its use (esp if remote). 73s Bob.0
