One-step recording capability to 44.1 khz mp3 file

When SmartSDR is empowered with recording capability like PowerSDR, could an option exist to record directly to a 44.1 khz sampled mp3 file? The time I recorded with PowerSDR I had to use Adobe Audition to resample the wave file to a 44.1 khz, then convert it to an mp3 to reduce the file size suitable for emailing. It sure would be nice to have the mp3 option from the get-go.

Simon (SDR-Radio.com) here. MP3 licencing is a nightmare, see http://mp3licensing.com/royalty/software.html and many references via Google. As a result I only support WAV and WMA. Apart from anything else codecs such as Opus and possibly WMA have better audio quality and compression ratios than MP3 which is now getting quite long in the tooth (aren't we all).

Teeth? You still HAVE teeth? You must be a whippersnapper.....:-) I 'had' teeth, they were in a box, just can't find where I put the box. Remember the old song...."All I want for Xmas is my 2 front teeth"
