Digital/RTTYmodes with HRD-DM 780 and FLEX running USB

I have been running HRD DM780 using both Digital and RTTY with the FLEX 6000 set for USB. Everything seems to run OK using the USB Receive mode set on the FLEX. Both the CAT and PTT between the computer and FLEX appear to work as it should. FLEX is set for Line, ACC and no COMP with a Navigator controlling the DM 780 Digital/RTTY modes. Does the FLEX DIGU or DIGL have to be set for these modes??

I think the plan for these modes is to have them turn off things that interfere with digital modes such as the transmit equalizer and compressor. You also get a different selection of bandwidth filters. I don't these these are functioning in this manner yet, but they do operate fine as USB and LSB.

I am also using the Navigator along with fldigi and on occasion HRD. I always use the digu that way I don't have issues with xmit eq and compressor.
