Are 2 instances of SmartSDR allowed?

Are 2 (or more) instances of SmartSDR, each run on a separate computer, allowed? Right now, with one instance connected, when I start a second instance of SmartSDR on a different computer the radio selection screen says my radio is "Available." When I try to connect to it, the radio panadapter comes up blank and a few seconds later there is a "Connection Lost" popup. When I close the "Connection Lost" SmartSDR program it gives two unhandled error messages. If multiple instances are not supposed to be possible the radio selection screen should indicate "Already in Use" and not allow the connect attempt.

This isn't currently supported, but I agree that it could be better handled.

I'd rather they allow multiple instances of SmartSDR run on separate computers rather than fix handling of the error messages. It seems like it'd be handy to fire it up on my laptop by the easy chair without having to first shut it down on the desktop in the shack. Hopefully each instance would reflect changes made on the other one.

Multi-user access (the same client software, multiple instances of it) is not supported in the radio software. Additionally SmartSDR for Windows (client) is not state aware of other instances of it running on different machines. If you tried to do this on the same PC, invoking a second instance of SmartSDR-Win is not allowed. This is not scheduled for v1.0 but will be addressed in a future version of SmartSDR (both for the radio software and the client software)

What if I want to run two Flex-6X00 radios on the same computer?

For instance, I might like to run a 6700 and a 6500 simultaneously for VHF contesting.  Can I use the same (fast) computer to run both radios and software-connect them both simultaneously to one instance of N1MM Logger or WriteLog???

    Asher, Thanks!

I like the "yet" part of the answer ;-)
