new com ports

Wiped all Flex software from pc and started fresh. V 4.2 installed normally. When I run SSDR Cat all my old com ports appear, I saved my profiles and imported them into the new v4.2. The newly named com ports appear also and they seem to work just fine on the digital programs. Should all the old com ports appear also, like ptt, TCP, and winkey ports? Saw some discussion that the com ports would be created as needed by each program so I'm not sure how that works with all the old com ports?

    Hi Fred,

When you wiped the old SSDRs from your computer did you select the "remove ports" (or whatever it's called) option ? It's not the default so unless you specifically chose it, the ports will still be there.

Hi Russ. Yes I did go thru the process of removing all the Flex com ports. The only com port left on the system after I rebooted was the pc system com port. But when I imported the profiles they were all loaded again. Otherwise I would need to create whatever com ports are needed, or let the system create them. Thus my question, what about the misc com ports such as ptt, winkey, tcp, etc.

    Hi Fred,

Hummm … Ok. That's surprising, at least to me. And is squarely beyond my expertise (such as it is) on the subject. Sorry I can't help !

There are some really Flex-sharp members on this community who probably know exactly what to do. If you don't get a response from one of them I'd suggest opening a ticket with Flex. They'll get you sorted right out.

Best of Luck, Fred ! Russ KR6W
