Ukranian transverter setup

grosler Member ✭✭

Just setup my 2m/440 Ukranian transverter (https://www.ebay.com/itm/255695416020).

The only signal I'm able to see on my flex8400 is from my handheld 2m radio. Not seeing any other stations or repeaters.

Haven't configured transmit band settings yet.

Never mind. Issue was receive antenna was set to XVTA when it should be RX A.

Thanks for posting. I was having the same issue and had given up. It's working now.

A note for those contemplating a transverter. If you have a split IF, you will need to use the RX A or RX B port for the receive portion of the transverter (TX always uses XVTA or B). If you have a common IF (not split), TX and RX both happen on the same XVTA or B port.

For most transverter operations, it is more convenient to use common IF, but there are cases where you might want split IF. With common IF you only need one cable, with split IF, you need two (one for TX, one for RX). Some transverters give you the choice of split or common, some do not.

You can also open the transverter and add a wire jumper between the "OUT 28" and "INP 28" jacks. You then have a common IF transverter and can use a single RF cable connected to the Flex radio using XVTA or XVTB. This frees up an RX port on the Flex radio and keeps the installation simpler/cleaner. This mod is approved by the transverter manufacturer and is what I did.
