Flex 6300 and Straight Key

I have decided to try a straight key with my Flex 6300 after years of using the internal keyer. I have a J-38 connected to the key jack on the back panel using the cable that I was using with my paddles. The problem I'm having is that when I depress the key, I get either dits or dahs depending on which wire I use. I do have Iambic turned off. I am in CW mode.

What's the trick?

Turning off the IAMBIC Button so that it is no longer BLUE should do it.

Are you certain that you have it turned OFF in the slice on which you are wanting to send CW?

Hi Steve, is your key wired in parallel with another rig? A friend of mine did that with a 6400 and a K4 and got similar results.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have the Iambic button turned off, it's gray. I also have Iambic disabled in the settings under radio. I have the cable going directly to the Flex, no other radios.

Len, you were right. My micro KEYER II was in line and causing the problem. I have it fixed and working now.

    Thanks again,

Excellent! I'm glad you got it working.
