Low power 2m amp to drive transverter
I have a transverter for QO-100 which requires a 1w drive. I’d like to use the 2m port on my 6700 for this but as is the power is too low.
Can anyone suggest an amplifier which would bump the 6700 2m transverter port to 1w?
Cheers, Neil.

Hi Neil,
I have a full duplex ground station from DX-Patrol. Tried it without attenuator, but I got 6W max out with 100mW in.
I'm using now this amp 10W broadband HF/6M 1-55MHz RF power amplifier - 60dBm.com Online Store
3mW in /1W out on 28MHz are driving DX Patrol to 10W out.

OM Neil,
Possibly by setting a very low level output signal on 2m port this amplifier will deliver 1 W output ( and not more). This unit has been designed for Flex 6000 series, hence its high gain.

If you are up for building something, I found this:

Thanks very much for the replies!
Tom - I dropped Kuhne a message and they send back a couple of additional suggestions, acknowledging neither were ideal.
Geoff - I'm always up for a build but I'm not sure I'd have the equipment to ensure it actually works properly! Ideally I'd have bought 'off the shelf' but it looks very much like that may not be an option.

OM Neil,
Here is another option. It works with various Toshiba power modules

OM Neil,
This is another option. It uses Toshiba power modules.

This item from Downeast Microwave might just fill your needs. It provides 1W with that low level input.

Hi Charlie,
Very interesting, I’ll drop them a line - thanks!

I understand you want to use your QO-100 transverter for 2m but Q5signal still lists the 2MLDPA for $395. It was designed to work with the milliwatts output from the 6700 and outputs up to 75w. I don't work for them, lol but I am a happy customer.

Unfortunately my transverter (a DX Patrol Groundstation) would be toast with 75w output! It's only looking for 1w (5w max).
I can use a 28 or 50MHz IF for it directly (its selectable up to 23cm) but I don't trust myself to not accidentally fire 100w into it!

I've ordered one of these - I'll report back if it works! Thanks for the reccomendation.

I have a full duplex ground station from DX-Patrol. When I ordered I told Antonio I had a Flex and he just removed an attenuator in the signal path. Maybe this is possible on yours as well?

Hi Hans,
That’s very useful information, thank you. I’ll drop Antonio an email.

Hope it works out for you. I'm STILL jealous of you having access to QO-100. hi hi.

Thanks Boyan, I'll contact DEM as they've not confirmed my order yet. Your suggestion may delivery quicker to me.
A quick question. What dBm do you have set in the transverter setup? I'm just trying to figure out how to get 1W (max 5W) out. From their specs:
Nominal input power is 0dBm (1mW)
Maximum input power is 4dBm (2.5mW)
Nominal output power is 40dBm (10W CW)

Neil, my transverter is set to -10dBm max output. With RF knob set to 30 I have 10W output readings on DX Patrol display. Decreasing RF knob to 1 I see 3-4 W out. I don't have a power meter for 2.4GHz, I believe DX Patrol readings are correct enough.
I'm using 85cm offset dish with Ice Cone feed V2 by DC8PAT TX antenna. 5W are enough to have same level as the beacon on CW/FT8 and 10W on SSB.

Thanks everyone on this thread for your help.
I ended up cancelling the DEM 1WTR as a long time had passed between ordering without hearing anything.
The 60dBm HF+50MHz amplifier arrived last week from Ukraine and alongside my ground station I had a successful test QSO with it today.
I'll put a blog post together with pictures, documenting this but its essentially the same as Boyan's setup!
