On pp. 16 of your owner's manual it describes a DB-9 connector for CAT control. This will allow your Flex 6400M to get band data to your ALSO 1306. You will need to buy a USB cable from Flex with USB on one end and a serial RS-232 DB9 on the other. This cable has the FTDI chip in it. There are other suppliers around also. The DB9 end goes to the CAT connector on the back of your Amp and the USB end plugs into your Flex. Your amp expects a Kenwood protocol which can be supplied by your Flex. This is described in both the Flex manual and the amplifier manual. Make sure you do or do not need the null modem adapter that ships with the cable by studying the amp manual and the RS-232 DB9 spec. Also all the detailed settings you need are there in the two manuals. For example, the baud (data) rate needs to agree, etc. I just did this with an ACOM 700S solid state HF amp and it works great. Good luck and plenty of folks around here can help you out. There is also a white paper on using the USB cable connection in the Flex document repository which discusses hooking up amps. -73
