Hi all,

As some of you may know I'm involved in a celebration event for radio station WWV turning 100 years old on Oct 1, 2019.

Our plans have been to run special event stations for a week from the WWV site.   You can read about our celebration plans and if you are so interested help us with a small domation on http://www.wwv100.com

Today we performed a trial run at the celebration station site.   We have received two SteppIR beams, one of which was built, mounted and tested today.  I used my personal 6600 to run tests against this beam as our loaner radios from Flex Radio will not arrive until the first week of September or so.

Our SteppIR beam was at 25 feet, we had only 100 watts and still we made contacts across the country and into a Hawaii.  Reverse beacon network shows us getting into Europe.

We confirmed we will be able to operate on 30m which is a challenge considering WWV has a transmitter on 10.0 Mhz putting out 5000 watts.  We also confirms 6m which is also a challenge when we consider the 25 Mhz WWV transmitter at another 5 kw.

We confirmed our internet access for logging and spotting of our stations.

All in all we learned a lot and we will be better prepared come the first of October for our real event stations to operate.

We have a full slate of operators to operate our various stations 24/7 and we are looking forward to hearing each and everyone of you on the bands in October.
