Thanks, Brian. I'll have to give this a shot. In addition to a few separate uninstall/reinstalls of WSJT-X, I deleted existing files and folders in appdata to force WSJT-X to recreate everything, including the .ini file. Didn't work.

I'm confident at this point that this is the problem: WSJT-X is clearly seeing/presenting old audio devices that no longer exist when attempting to modify audio sources in settings. Part of my troubleshooting included uninstalling VAC. This removed all VAC devices from Window's sound panel, but they all still show up in WSJT-X. I am thinking that WSJT-X is seeing an old version/hardware ID # of DAX RX 1/2 and failing to pull audio.

    Rob,
Did you ever get a solution to this problem?

I am experiencing the same with WSJT-X 10.0 on SSDR 1.5 and Win 10.
DAX works fine on other digital apps.

I finally reverted to a legacy version of WSJT-X 1.3, which works on the SSDR 1.5 and Win 10 setup.

I would like to run the WSJT-X 10 as it has nice features.

BTW, WSJT-X 10 works beautifully on my Mac laptop and a KX3.  No connection problems.  That of course is a sound card connection.

There is only WSJT 10.0, WSJT-X is at 1.5 and devel at 1.6.1.
I have had no problems with WSJT-X.

First, what Alex said. I have no issues with WSJT 10.0, which sees and uses DAX RX 2 normally for me.

As mentioned, the only "solution" that's worked for me in WSJT-X has been to make DAX RX 2 the default device in Windows sound devices, and then choose default device in WSJT-X's audio input setting. This issue has remained persistent in both 1.5 as well as 1.6.1-dev.

Rob, that could also be a Windows problem.
Because of all the digital modes and the three different TRX I
control from one notebook I have done a lot of research into
    the Windows audio system.
I use http://audioswit.ch/er to control my different soundcards.
My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on a Sony Vaio i7
    notebook.
