A: With SmartSDR Version 2.x
Natural follow-up Q: When do we get SmartSDR v2.x?
Already known follow-up A: When it is ready AND when marketing timing are optimal for release.
Writing now in early April 2017, what anyone's crystal ball or armchair prediction suggests for a hard date for SmartSDR v2.x is just a guess. FRS will release when FRS decides it is ready and right.
I'd rather they hold until ready, than have a radio that emulates my recent car experience at 3200 miles where the SUV's computer needed an update as it had become an inert big lump of metal & leather.
Missed some appointments and had to send others ahead by cab because the product was released before sorted out. BTW it only took a couple hours, mostly waiting for the service responder to physically get to me, but at 20-30 times the cost of a Flex-6x00 I didn't expect a "lawn ornament" out of a SUV.
"Soon Come" as they say on the Islands..... "Soon Come" but not before it's good and ready!

The 2017 Dayton Flex dinner is a month away so I guess we will see in a month if other priorities have taken the focus away or there just are not enough resources to deliver on this statement in a one year time frame.
It would not be the first time I was told something would happen and then it did not. I was told directly at Orlando when the Maestro hardware was being shown with demo units for customers to play with that when it was released in a couple months that it would come with VPN connection capability. Well it did not and afterwards a posting here by the Engineering Manager explained why.
Just stating a couple facts to balance out the excuses.
