Version 1.3 DAX

It seems like the version of DAX supplied with v. 1.3 is still somewhat "flakey" on my 6700. I have seen instances of no transmit or no receive with the only apparent solution to shut-down DAX and restart it. I normally keep it simple using only one channel for the digital modes. Also, this is my first day of operation with version 1.3.

If I can determine a pattern of "misbehavior" I will report it here.

I can say that DAX seems to be solid so far.
Still had the operator error of forgetting to check that both RED TX buttons, slice and dax control panel are enabled. But only a couple dozen times, so I'm getting better...

Here is one problem that I encountered with DAX today. I spent a lot of time today setting-up profiles for the bands and modes that I normally use. I had the radio set to one of my profiles (don't remember which one) and then changed to 40 m JT65/JT9 that I had previously set-up...to do some operating.

I noted that I was receiving no audio on WSJT-X, the application that I use for these modes. I double-checked that all of the buttons were properly selected and still no dice. I then just moved the audio level a bit on Channel 1 (which I was using) and voila! I started receiving audio. I have had similar transmit problems in the past where a slight adjustment of the DAX slider will allow the radio to start transmitting.

Ed -- using your profiles, I've been unable to duplicate the problem.

I have had several of instances on my 6500 with the new V. 1.3.
After turning off the rig, but leaving the computer on, when returning and restarting the rig, DAX doesn't work, requiring me to close and reopen DAX.

I have also had CAT do this a few times, requiring me to close and restart CAT.

I did not notice this in the previous version.
I did a complete uninstall and reinstall as part of the upgrade process, and I did a "factory reset" button push power up (persistence reset) after upgrading.

Eric,

I also have not had a problem with my profiles. The problem shows-up with power-on persistence AFTER using a profile.

Ahhh ok.  I addressed an issue Fri. that should address CAT and DAX disconnecting when the radio is powered down and not properly reconnecting when it comes back online.  Thanks for clarifying.  This fix will be in the next release.

Eric,
Thanks, I've seen it here also since V1.3 but not a major issue and easy to work around.

I have also experienced a DAX stability issue with my Flex 6.7K, if 5 channels are set to DAX1 on different bands, sometimes when switching between bands, one of the assigned channels defaults back to none.  and have to be assigned again.

In my case I have set CommCat Mobile on DAX1, Skype on DAX2 and Parallels Access on DAX3 and I often do switch between DAX channels to the appropriate program during my remote Flex operation.

BTW I have not tested this using Profiles yet.

Just finished working with Profiles, I thought "Global" refers to all the settings across all bands.  I found out that when you save a Global Profile it only saves the DAX assignment for the the current band and active slice.

I made three profiles where I assigned DAX1 for Slice A in all bands in one, DAX2 on the second and DAX3 on the third Global Profiles, when I load any other Profile only the band where the Profile was saved kept its DAX settings, all other bands DAX assignments were not saved.

Ali - I have written up your report as a defect for the engineering team to investigate

Thanks Tim,

Despite this small glitch, Profiles made it 100% easier for me to switch, I made 3 Profiles for each band one for each DAX channel for the time being.  it reduced the steps to a single click in the DAX control panel.

Yes! Agreed, Ali.  Even "incomplete" profiles are a great addition!  Thanks FRS!    They are really appreciated.  Now I can change back and forth from SSB-Rag Chew to SSB-DX with changes in TX EQ, TX FIlter width and Compressor level changes, and RX EQ state all with a couple of clicks.  Love it!

I am stunned by how much useful stuff the FR team put into each release. 'Gobsmacked' is an expression that we use on my side of the pond that fits the bill.

I have experience similar problems with DAX. However, I manage to correct the not transmit by disconnecting DAX and turn it back on; which solves the problem.

By the way, this was happening with v1.2 also.
