V1.1 Install problems

A number of install problems with v1.1.  Starting from the previous v1.05 release.

1) Hung on installing v1.1 over v1.05, sat for over an hour on "installing 64-bit DAX drivers" (Windows 7)

2) Did not find SmartSDR CAT install in the specified directory.  In general the SmartSDR CAT instructions didn't match what happened.  Running Cat.exe from SmartSDR CAT directory seems to get the CAT program running.

3) After getting things "running", the UI regularly stalls (after 5-30 minutes) with a message "connection to the radio was lost, please reconnect".  All seems fine after reconnect until the next fail.

Not really usable as it constantly needs to reconnect to the radio.

You might want to try uninstalling all beta versions and CAT completely, then rebooting your computer. Run the installer with Administrator permissions. Might help. Good luck!!

Yes.  That is how I got past #1 (hanging on installing 64-bit DAX drivers.  Issues #2 and #3 were from a "clean" install (all prior versions of SmartSDR and SmartSDR CAT removed).

Yin,

Delete all your old version of SmartSDR and CAT as George said.  Download the new version and either use Tim's email instructions dated 31 Jan 2014. Or, print the PDF that it is in the new version.  The PDF gives you all the steps you need to follow to successfully install it.

Do not skip any line, you must do it in the correct sequence otherwise, you'll be back here asking the same question.

Do not forget to shut the computer off when it ask for.  And when installing the radio software, It appears that it has stop working, let it do its thing.

The Smart CAT installation is done after the radio is operational.

Again, you must follow the instructions.

Issue #1 was solved by deleting the prior installs.  Issue #2 is more of a documentation issue and minor.  Despite 3 clean installs, I continue to get "Connection to the radio was lost.  Please reconnect." messages after a few minutes of connection.  Clean installs means uninstalling all prior SmartSDR and SmartCAT installs.  Install is on Windows 7 laptop, and disconnect message occurs despite multiple reboots of both 6700 and laptop.

#3 turned out to be a network hopping issue.  My laptop was switching back and forth between bgn 2.5G and 5G bands, something it hadn't done before this week.  Disconnects go away if I lock the band down.  So except for hunting down the source of this new behavior, all resolved.
