User's Guide

Since the User's Guide is on line and is probably managed by some program like Word or something similar, I was wondering if as you update the User's Guide you can indicate in the table of contents just what section has changed perhaps by indicating with a "pipe" bar in front of the section that has changed, e.g. from below section 11.2 changed since the last edition of the User's Guide.  Then when the next edition comes out and there were no further changes to section 11.2 then remove the "|" indicator.  This would make it easier to pick out changes.  Just a thought.

  11.3 Using the built-in keyer ........................................................................................... 40

    Don:

Thanks for your comment regarding the FLEX-6000 Hardware and Software User's Manuals.  I happen to the be "hardware manual" team leader.    I like your idea and will present it to the rest of the manual team.  We've actually tried a couple different things.  You'll notice the changlog on the HW manual as one thing.  The only issue with the "|" is that it can get rather lengthy if entire sections are added.

We have an action to get all the manual teams together soon and figure out the best way to harmonize them.  We need to get everything synchronized so it's easier to add new operational features and tips/hints.

    Thanks again!

Perhaps using italics for the section(s) that get changed in the table of contents.  Just another thought

    Or a different text color.

    Thank you Don - KX9Q,

That is exactly what I was asking for when I wrote asking for "Software Guides paper reduction" several days back on the forum.

Greg K5GJ totally missed my request.  I am glad that FRS lights finally been turned on with your request.

I suggested the same thing way back during the PDSR days and Tim acknowledge the request.  However, nothing was ever done; Since it's continuing today.

If and when they act on your request, I will continue hunting for the change^ in the manuals.

^I know FRS tells us on the release notes what changes are made.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
