Unhandled Error

Windows 10, SSDR 2.51, Flex 6300 and 6500.

Trial period on CAT expired!

Smartlink failed a month ago, opened a ticket, Tim says I need a new router. Despite what the manual says, Smartlink does not work with all internet connections. New problem today. Maybe related or not.

CAT has failed, Unhandled Error. Anyone with ideas? Program is disabled, can't even try the usual CAT remedies.

Here is the screen:

---------------------------

SmartSDR CAT (v2.5.1.208): An unhandled error has occurred: The invocation of the constructor on type 'CatWPF.MainWindow' that matches the specified binding constraints threw an exception.

Inner Exception: Trial period is expired.

I got a trial period expired message once. Ended up removing all the Flex and DAX and CAT software per Tim's memo. Re-installed everything and no problems since.

It's interesting that it was a "Trial Period" error when Flex does not offer a trial period of SSDR. Perhaps they originally intended to provide one.

I suggested a while back that they offer a trial period so owners can decide if a new release is right for them before shelling out $199. This is a common practice with most software packages.

The Trial period error came from the CAT program not SSDR.

Splitting hairs. It's all part of the operating package.

In running Smartlink since 2013, I have never seen this error message and while CAT might have caused it, it may be related to some other library that is part of Windows.

    I would recommend the following:
    • Uninstall all copies of SmartSDR
    • Make sure your computer is fully up to date on all maintenance - it is possible it is related to his
    • Re-install the version of SmartSDR you are using
This is not related to your router at all.

You don't say which version of windows you are using and if you are up to date on maintenance.  That might help debug this a bit.

They never said but the error message would suggest they bought CAT from FabulaTech and just plugged in the Flex name. Not that there is any thing wrong with doing that.

Thank you all, got rid of CAT expiration.

    Using Tim's procedure, uninstalled/reinstalled SSDR.

Working on Smartlink issues now. Wish the Flex 6000 platform was more stable.

    Sounds like a Seinfeld episode
