Undocking and Moving Various Screen Elements of the Single SmartSDR Window into Operating System Win

It would be quite helpful to be able to undock and move various elements that make up the SmartSDR screen. Now I know I can move the various control panel elements around on the right portion of the overall SmartSDR window and move the panadapters around on the large left portion of the same window. What I am asking is the ability to break out of of the single Smart SDR window into additional operating system windows. This would enable more flexible arrangements on a single computer screen. More importantly it would enable arranging various of the SmartSDR elements, primarily the panadapters, among multiple physical monitors. I believe this may have been requested before, even by me, but I'm not able to find the thread. Thanks for continuing to make the best radios in the world.

    Hi Jim,
We added this idea about 2 years ago.  The undocking idea is number 1 on the user requested list with 56 votes.

It is definitely possible but FRS hasn't commented on the idea, which they don't do unless they it is in the next release.  I suspect that converting the GUI to allow docking is more work than they feel is worth doing or at least very low on on their list of priorities.  Maybe in V3.x or V4.X.

Thanks Al, I knew I'd mentioned this before, apparently twice. It must be quite an issue to make it happen involving getting into the operating system. But I'd bet the biggest problems are working over multiple networks and working with operating systems other than MS Windows, Apple. Given the magnificent creation Flex has made with the 6000 Series I certainly favor letting them choose the priorities as they go forward. -- Jim W5HFS
