Unable to complete licensing of SmartSDR v3.0.27

I am running Windows 10 on a Mac Mini under VMware Fusion and used this to upgrade my FLEX-6400 to SmartSDR v3.0.27.  The download worked smoothly and also updated the 6400.  However, I am unable to complete licensing. I can only either connect Windows under VMware Fusion to  the 6400 (Ethernet connection) or the Internet (Wireless), but not both simultaneously.  Has anyone successfully updated and licensed v3.0.27 running Windows 10 on a Mac under VMware Fusion? If so, how did you get around this issue?

Thanks and 73,

Bob N7RJN

    My issue was similar but not exact. Turned out to be a corrupted license database in the radio itself. Took a 10 minute support call to fix it once they worked thru all the normal tests.

    You need to have the radio connected directly to the internet, not to the computer. In other words, both the radio and computer need to be plugged into your router, or to an Ethernet switch connected to the router.

    Craig, Thank you.

    After sending my message, I figured that I would have to do something like that. Only issue is I use WiFi for my internet connections throughout my house. The wireless router is in the utility room about 30 feet away. I guess I will have to run an Ethernet cable from the router to my ham shack and use an Ethernet switch. I will have to find a way to do this in an XYL friendly manner.

    Bob:

    The license is stored in the radio.  The Cat5/6 cable only needs to be in the hallway during the short licensing process, then roll it up and store it away until you need it the next time.  The radio doesn't  need to phone home after the license is authorized.  I had to do the same thing as you are doing.

    Bob;

    I had a similar Ethernet connection problem, started planning to pull wires. Then someone on this forum, can't find the post again, suggested using power wiring adapters. I put one where the router is and one at the Flex, worked great. Not sure of the bandwidth of these so might not work well between computer and Flex, but should be OK to get the Flex on the network to acquire the license.
