Tuning frequency with SSB

When I press the TUNE button with 1.2.1 SSDR, it transmits a
carrier on the CW pitch even when I am in SSB mode.  In general, tuning at “0” Hertz is less offending to SSB QSO’s.   It would be an improvement to move the tuning frequency to the SSB carrier frequency (“0” Hertz).

(Yes, I could move the VFO and then move back, but we are trying to improve ease of operation here.)

Many of us have made this suggestion previously. In the mean time, I simply use XIT to shift the freq to zero beat and tune up. But then I need to remember to zero out the XIT before transmitting! I have forgotten this several times! It is hard to bust a pileup on the wrong TX frequency!

I agree, I think it just causes unnecessary QRM. I believe the Flex 3000 and 5000 are on the center frequency. Not sure why they changed this operation.

Yes, they are, and the 1500 too.

Ken, always happy to stumble upon an existing suggestion.  Re-searching with better keywords shows that the last discussion on this was two to nine months ago.  But no likes lately.  Perhaps FRS has a decay algorithm they apply to old likes.  :-)

Thanks for the "bump!" It seems to me that this issue should be a simple formula to change. But things aren't always as easy as they seem!

And an extra bump, I wasn't aware that SSDR handled this differently and found it odd that someone else seemed to be aggravating the others on the frequency with carriers that only "I" couldn't hear.

Jay, thanks for the bump, but I don't think we need it now.   This seems to have been implemented in 1.3.   Hooray!

I was very glad to see that "Tune on zero beat" in SSB mode was added to release V 1.3. But now I need to retrain myself to stop grabbing the XIT when I get ready to tune! I had adapted quickly, so it wasn't a big problem. But it is very nice, now.

Okay, I hadn't noticed it was fixed yet. I'll Bump your Hooray! then. Excuse the noise folks they fixed it already!
