Working the MARS / DOD quarterly exercise. There are 3 different frequencies that are carrying digital traffic. With any other rig, it's either constant manual or automatic scanning to find which channel is currently carrying traffic. With this approach, it's very easy to land on a frequency in the middle of a message.
With my 6600M, I have 3 slices open for the digital traffic (and a fourth for voice). The 3 digital slices are sending to Dax 1, 2, and 3, respectively. I use VAC repeaters to repeat each DAX output to a single VAC cable, i.e. merging all 3 channels into a single output stream. Then I use that single output stream as the input to my digital program. It works PERFECTLY. The only time it doesn't work is when digital is received on more than one channel simultaneously, and even then the software is sometimes able to pick one out. I also send that same merged DAX stream to another digital program for a different type of decoding (M110A on one and ALE on the other), so even if someone transmits M110A then ALE, they are both decoded.
Try doing that with ANY other radio.
Yet another reason to love Flex!
