SSDR V2 - Try before buy?

Now that the release of V2 of Smart SDR is being actively talked about, I wonder if the nice people at Flex are going to give us the opportunity of trying it for 'reasonable' time, say 14 or 30 days to see if the improvements are something I/we actually need or want?

There have been many discussions about the cost of V2 and I am not trying to re-hash that discussion.

The reason for my question is quite simple. I have no interest in either buying/using a Maestro or remote access to my 6300. I like my setup as is so I wonder if the new version will actually give me anything I want.

I am confident that Flex will not be doing a Microsoft giving us Windows Vista or similar!

I am sure other people have an interest in knowing if a trial version will be available.

We had purposely allowed people to comment freely on this topic before responding.  I'd like to address the main question posted by Tim G7GFW / F4VQP81.  We have not made any plans to allow for a "try and buy" of SmartSDR v2.x.

Our intent is to allow for users who have purchased an upgrade or received an upgrade as a consequence of purchasing a Limited Edition 6700 or 6500 to freely express the benefits and any deficiencies in the releases in order for you to make an informed buying decision.  The onus is on FlexRadio to deliver features with enough value that will make upgrading an easy decision.

When we officially announce SmartSDR v2.0 and describe the initial feature set included with it, we will be talking more about the other features that will be included in the 2.x release.  SmartSDR v2.0 with Internet Remote Access feature is just the first of several releases in the 2.x family.  Rest assured that we'll be talking about other new feature that we have not pre-announced.

And it isn't in our best interest to deliver a Windows ME version either ;-)

At this time, I'm going to close this post since it has been well vetted.  Thanks to everyone you posted responsibly.
