Installed V2.2.8 and smooth update, no issues and all working fine.

Question: Is there a way to configure SSDR NOT to shut down CAT & DAX?

- The new SPLIT button is nice, automatic up 1 on CW and TX is enabled in the new slice.
- Like the S meter option of either S-units or dbm, peak indicator is nice too.
- Minor, but the new icons are easier to tell apart.

Seamless install of v2.2.8 here too. New SDR,CAT, and DAX icons and S-meter changes are nice. The color/intensity graphic is nice too although I was really hoping to see the signal intensity colors auto change (iOS SmartSDR style). Oh well, maybe in the next upgrade.

Updated 2 PCs, 2 67xx radios and Maestro - seamless! Really like the new features, esp. ability to disable auto-launch of DAX but keep CAT auto-launched, and the new S-meter options.
Nicely done!

Ditto! The installation/update here also went without any problems... not even any issues. :)
Everything, including CAT and DAX works beautifully... now, if the band conditions would improve so I can make some contacts to really test this out... ;)

Very minor thing ... the Maestro Release Notes for v2.2.8 have an incorrect date on them (March 15 not May 15). Likewise the Maestro Change Log download page has March not May.

When did the voltage and temp windows show up? I don't recall them from the previous version, although I use the Maestro 95% of the time and may have just missed them.

Hi Keith,
The "temp and voltage" are actually from a third party app. (although it seems like something that could/should be a part of SSDR). It remembers where you position it and can be left running all the time, even when SSDR is not running.
I don't like to run a lot of third party apps but the K9DUR monitor is reliable, only does one thing and works fine. More info on Ray's web page.

Yep, install went smooth, will do Maestro in a few. Well, the pretty colors on the Panadapter Fill should satisfy many. I do really like the SPLIT. The little time is saves will make a difference. Persistence fix was surely needed. Thanks developers. Looking forward to more software features.

Hi Tim,
here I have the DAX error problem. I got it only on my Win10-Ent-64 PC. It happened that my pc got the last Win10-1803 update just after 2.2.8 SSDR installation. After that the Dax driver stopped working.
I did a clean SSDR install but had no success.
Do I have to open a support request?
Thank you very much and best regards

Similar issue Enzo. 2.2.8 installed, W10 1803 killed the DAX drivers. I have done the same clean install of 2.2.8. Find it necessary to do a OS Reset to clean out whatever garbage MS has tossed in to fix this - this is what I did, finally, to fix 2.1.33 when V1803 installed. It worked but is a HUGE PITA in that all apps usually need to be reinstalled.
This morning instead of using my equipment I'll begin the day by doing my IT job in the shack. More IT, less operating. A lot less.
And yes, I am stupid (forehead sign being prepared) and clicked the wrong button on 2.2.8 install thereby losing the 2.1.33 DAX drivers. Flex Release Notes are correct. Yeah, I know, dumb, but still MS, why why why make it so painful.
Truly, I am really tired of getting borked by MS-its always something, not just Flex, other apps also get trashed. V 1803 nailed sharing, network and print drivers this time coming up from 1709.
If there are DAX solutions other than a Reset.............? None of the prior solutions worked - hence Reset due to frustration.

Lionel - One of the "tricks" with the uninstaller is if you answer Yes, Yes, Yes (the defaults) it will keep the DAX drivers and reboot after the uninstaller. I change SmartSDR for Windows versions several times a day or more, and I get in the habit of answering Yes, Yes, Yes every time I run it.

Ok Tim,
I am sorry to inform you that none of the suggested procedure worked for me. I went back to 2.0.19 version doing clean installations, but the error is still the same.
I just want to point out that with Win10-1709 each SSDR version, until 2.2.28, worked fine. It seems problems starts from Win10-1803.
Best regards
Enzo

Installed on Windows 10 without issue, followed by update of 6600M radio and M interface from the front panel. All is working properly for digital modes on Windows and Mac. Haven't checked the iOS app yet. I did do a cold start of the radio after update.

Question: Is there a way to configure SSDR NOT to shut down CAT & DAX?
If SmartSDR starts CAT and DAX, it shuts them down when it is closed. If you want them to stay running, COnfigure SmartSDR to not automatically start them and manually start them.

Tim, running 6400M here which doesnt seem to start DAX and CAT automatically.
Do we have to put them in the autostart folder for my M radio?

There are no programs that can be run on an M model radio.
CAT and DAT are started on a PC where SmarSDR for Windows has been installed.
If you run SmartSDR for Windows it will, by default start DAX and CAT.
Or you can choose not to run SmartSDR for Windows and manually start DAX and CAT.

Knowing you are a big CW Op, did you notice the improvement in the TX>RX recovery? Seems fast to me. What filter setting do you use for CW? Seems if it's too sharp the received signals start to sound soft.

Hi Bill,
I leave the CW filter set to AUTO and run semi-breakin. So didn't notice any difference here.

Tom,
Yes thanks, I wasn't sure whether SSDR would still close them when it exited but Tim confirmed it would not stop them in that case.
At this point I'm leaving them set to "autostart" to see if it causes me any issues but so far so good. Good to know there are options.

And yes, the icons are great !

Flawless upgrade. Easy. The new Split feature in SmartSDR for Windows is a handy addition. The Split feature is not on the 6600M screen - is that correct, or am I missing something?

Software. Has peak reading now and a numerical readout so might say S9 +10db as an example. Can be switched between S readings and dBm

Early this morning I shut down my 6700, killed my PS. SSDR, CAT, DAX shut down on both my two W10Pro PC. Maestro switched off. Then upgrading SSDR without any previous uninstalls as described in Best practices.
Flawless upgrade of radio, PC's and Maestro. Gonn'a upgrade my 6500 later today, don't expect any problems.
Those with problems probably those not bothering to read release notes, Best practices etc. Can't say I feel sorry for them ;)

True. Failure to read instructions - a common cause of failure. That said, if you ever have to do a complete reinstall of SSDR if say a file gets corrupted then you're possible toast. Neither .33 or .2.8 DAX seem to install properly unless the old drivers are present. The old drivers being present may not always be the case.
This isn't a Flex issue as much of a MS issue and I wish I knew what MS did to mess up the once working fine Flex driver installs.
I did have .2.8 DAX working fine after doing an OS reset. So, I figured all is good but yesterday the firmware update hung and then seemed fine after cold boot of Flex. But maybe not all installed properly so perhaps I should reinstall SSDR - that's when it went bad.
After having 2,8 DAX working I figured the old .33 SSDR was no longer going to be needed - so it was removed.
Voila - I won the MS award of the week.

I also had the DAX driver issue. Reinstall of SmartSDR did not fix it. But this manual procedure fix it: https://helpdesk.flexradio.com/hc/en-us/articles/204017069-How-to-Manually-Re-Install-DAX-Drivers
If that does not work, I think you will need a helpdesk ticket.
Good luck,

This worked - 2.1.33 is completely uninstalled. Only 2.2.8 installed. DAX is good. Following the linked procedure, exactly, worked although during reboot MS popped up suggesting I run their audio troubleshooter to fix audio problems - don't do it! Its a trick.
I had run this procedure before, just after 1803 update, giving up and doing an OS reset.
I suppose anytime SSDR needs to be installed this procedure may need to be repeated.

I would LOVE to update the software but I am operating remote from just outside of Dayton. Is there a process for updating the radio remotely, just in case I lose my sanity and want to try it remotely?

Just type "winver" in a command window. It should be 1709, 1803 or something else.Thank you very much

Thank you Dave,
I am pretty sure the problem is only with build #1803. As I said, none of the 2.x SSDR worked fine for me, and today a friend of mine has experienced the same problem with SSDR 1.11.12 as well: DAX Broken.
I have already downgraded my W10 to #1709 build and magically everything work well.
Best regards

Did the upgrade fully remote control and was flawless even with Windows 10 Pro 1803 upgrade just completed the day before. IOBit uninstalled .133 and installed 2.2.8 moved PC audio off DAX RX 1 to speakers and all went well with total power off system reset as directed in the clear directions. Nice job, like the SPLIT button.
