looking at buying a new PC; Windows 7 installed, Windows 8/8.1 license included. wondering how software other than SmartSDR/SmartSDR CAT, for instance HRD/DM780/Logbook, WSJT-X software plays with Windows 8/8.1.

    Hi Don,

I still have an email I need to send you, unfortunately unforeseen family issues kicked me in the **** this last week.

Anyway, I use Windows 8.1 on all my HAM Radio PC's here in the shack including on the Tablets.

I use all the software you mentioned and more without issues with Windows 8.1   Any quirks with are generally documented well on the relevant software's forums and to be honest I don't recall any issues that have caused me to dig too deep.   Normally user error has been the cause of any stumbling blocks I have experienced.

    Regards

    Richard W4/G7EIX

(I'll get that email to you this weekend!  I promise!)

    Don:
I was operating WIN 7 64Bit with all the bells and whistles that come with Windows. I had all the FLEX, HRD, Fldigi, N1mm Logging, DXCluster software installed and running. I upgraded to Win 8.1 64 Bit and reinstalled all these programs. All these programs are running correctly. Suggest Upgrading the Internal RAM to twice the amount of what is presently installed. FLEX has worked diligently with Fldigi and that Digital program seems to work better than HRD on my FLEX network. Minor issues are when running HRD DM-780 I have to start HRD DM 780 before I open the HRD Logbook function. Then sometimes HRD DM-780 starts and operates normally. However, I use Fldigi and Fldigi DXCCluster applications for Digital, RTTY, and CW modes.
