A software license for the FLEX-6000 is required to run SmartSDR v3.x and SmartSDR v2.x.

If prompted to upgrade your SmartSDR license, obtaining and validating a license for your FLEX-6000 software defined radio is a simple process.  Once the radio and client have network access to the Internet, just load any version of the SmartSDR v3.x software on your PC or Maestro. In the radio chooser, if a radio requires a license, a status message will indicate a license is required before connecting to the radio and updating the firmware.  A “Buy” button is also presented so that you can conveniently purchase a SmartSDR v3.x license (which is inclusive of v2.x) using our Online Store. Please see details below regarding purchasing a SmartSDR software license for your radio.

The following highlights are SmartSDR specific items:

SmartSDR v3.1.7
  • New SmartControl Mode for Maestro:  SmartControl is a new feature for the Maestro that allows the operator use the control surface (knobs and buttons) of a Maestro to control a FLEX-6000 while using SmartSDR for Windows or the front panel of an “M” model radio at the same time, for added operating flexibility.  (#3709)
  • Updated DAX Drivers: SmartSDR v3.1.7 includes an updated DAX driver that should not scramble the device names after Win10 updates.  In addition, the DAX drivers are not candidates for the Windows default sound devices when other sound devices are available. This prevents the default sound devices from changing. (#6873, #5203)
  • Expanded functionality of Remote Monitoring on Phone Modes: The multiFLEX monitor functionality is enhanced to provide an ability to listen to the other connected client while transmitting and using the Monitor feature.  It is possible to hear the remote and local audio mixed in the Monitor.  The initial release of this feature is for phone modes only, remote CW sidetone is currently unavailable. (#7344)
  • Lower Bandwidth Usage for VPN Connections:  SmartSDR and Maestro remote audio (PC Audio) now stream using lower bandwidth (compressed audio) for improved performance on VPNs and lower throughput LAN networks. (#7472)
  • Enhanced multiFLEX Connection Information: Enhancements to multiFLEX including improved notifications of connected users. (#7484, #7554)
  • Bug Fixes: Additional bug fixes since v3.0.27.  Please refer to the SmartSDR V3 ChangeLog for a complete listing.
SmartSDR v2.6.0
  • Updated DAX Drivers: SmartSDR v2.6.0 includes an updated DAX driver that should not scramble the device names after Win10 updates.  In addition, the DAX drivers are not candidates for the Windows default sound devices when other sound devices are available. This prevents the default sound devices from changing. (#6873, #5203)
  • Lower Bandwidth Usage for VPN Connections:  SmartSDR and Maestro remote audio (PC Audio) now stream using lower bandwidth (compressed audio) for improved performance on VPNs and lower throughput LAN networks. (#7472)
  • Bug Fixes: There are other bug fixes in this release since v2.5.1.  Please refer to the SmartSDR v2.5+ ChangeLog for a complete listing.
SmartSDR v1.12.1
  • Updated DAX Drivers: SmartSDR v1.12.1 includes an updated DAX driver that should not scramble the device names after Win10 updates.  In addition, the DAX drivers are not candidates for the Windows default sound devices when other sound devices are available. This prevents the default sound devices from changing. (#6873, #5203)
  • Bug Fixes: There are other bug fixes in this release since v1.11.12.  Please refer to the SmartSDR v1 ChangeLog for a complete listing.
