FlexRadio Systems announces the immediate availability of SmartSDR v1.8.4 ecosystem for the FLEX-6000 Signature Series SDRs.  SmartSDR v1.8.4 is a maintenance release containing fixes for several defects that affected SmartSDR v1.8.3.

The SmartSDR 1.8.4 maintenance release contains new software for SmartSDR for Windows, SmartSDR for Maestro, SmartSDR CAT and DAX.  SmartSDR for Windows, SmartSDR CAT and DAX can be downloaded here.

The following highlights are SmartSDR for Windows specific features and major bug fixes :

Fixed SWR Fold-back feature not working properly with certain amplifiers and external tuners: Progressive averaging logic was added to the SWR fold-back feature to prevent exciter drive reduction when short duration transient reflected power was detected.  (Firmware Defect #3765)

Fixed Noise Burst issue on initial transmit when operating digital modes: A defect has been corrected that resulted in a momentary noise burst being transmitted when utilizing the new feature that allows the use of a microphone in conjunction with DAX. (Firmware Defect #3780)

Fixed a critical defect that could result in the Maestro being inoperable after a software update: A software defect was exposed that resulted in several Maestros becoming inoperable after a software update.  Changes to prevent this situation from happening along with logic to gracefully recover if certain processors do not update properly have been implemented in this release.  (Maestro Defect #3766)

As with any new release, it is recommended that you review the Important Release Details section in the SmartSDR v1.8.4 Release Notes before upgrading. There are several “best practices” recommendations that will facilitate a smooth transition to SmartSDR v1.8.4.  For Maestro users, refer to the SmartSDR for Maestro Release Notes for upgrade information.
