For FLEX-6000 owners who use OmniRig for CAT interfacing with third-party applications, there is an updated SmartSDR.ini file available from Alex, VE3NEA.  Make sure you have the latest OmniRig exe files too if you have not updated in awhile.

Tim, is it compatible with older versions or just the newest one?
You are the best, my best wishes for a productive and profitable 2018!

Neil, Tom’s comment about the updated IMO was from two years ago. Another user replied to the thread so he he had an issue with mode switching not qorking from cluster spot. Was setting in Log4OM

Not sure where to start troubleshooting this but thought I would start here.

I am using Log4OM with OmniRig and the Flex 6000 series.

Using the cluster in Log4OM, doubling clicking the DX changes the frequency on the Flex but does not change mode.  I realize there are some limitations with Digital modes but this is from CW to SSB and back to CW.  Whatever mode the Flex is on does not change.

I am holding off on the fun until my new "M" radio gets here.

Appreciate your fast response Dave. Saved me from looking like an idiot on the Log4OM forum with Terry too :)

Happy new year and 73,

Rich

no problem.

I do not use Log4OM as my primary logging program but I have it installed. I was using Hamlib but the version of Hamlib included with latest Log4OM doesn't have the new Flex models in the database. Hamlib has been updated yesterday to include the new models.

I will notify Terry and see if he can compile a new version of Log4OM and use the latest Hamlib when compiling. This way when the new radios hit the market it will just require updating the app.

They don't actually compile it in. They include a standalone version in the AppData folder, and then pass command line params to rigctld and then connect via TCP. It's similar to what WSJT-X does it, except that WSJT-X is much cleaner. They would have to change a few things to incorporate the new 3.1 branch of Hamlib in it. If they can do it, great. Otherwise most will be fine with Omni-Rig, it's pretty much set and forget.

One more question - since I use RTTY for 99% of my digital use, how can I change the ini file to cause grabbing a RTTY spot to set Log4OM to RTTY mode instead of "SSB" and the rig to Digi-L or Digi-U?  Seems I used to have it set up like that on my old PC, but lost it when moving to the new one a while back.

OmniRig does not support RTTY mode on Flex radios. I have asked Alex, the author of OmniRig to support it but he never did anything.

I thought Tim or someone had suggested an edit to the SmartSDR.ini file for Omnirig that would do the job, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.  Guess I'll keep looking.  I could swear that I had it running on the old PC this way.  It's frustrating in its current form because not only do I have to switch the mode when I pounce on a spot, but I have to remember to switch the log to follow since it doesn't even track correctly.   (I'm still searching for a small, elegant logger for the DXer like DX4WIN used to be.)    Thanks for the quick response, Dave!
