SmartSDR CAT on SmartLink

Supposedly, SmartSDR CAT works on SmartLink. But not for me. When I am on my home LAN, everything works -- SmartSDR CAT shows "Radio Connected", and DX4Win talks to it with no problems. However, when I am away from home using SmartLink, CAT shows "Radio Not Connected" and, of course, DX4Win can no longer talk to the radio -- it just times out. SmartSDR and the radio work flawlessly, just with no CAT.

SmartSDR v2.0.17, Flex-6500, Windows 10 (latest updates) on all computers. I have completely uninstalled all Flex software and reinstalled it, to no avail.

Any ideas?

when using CAT remotely via SmartLink, did you log into your SmartLink account?

Also, do you see the radio chooser in CAT so you can select the SmartLink radio?

Oh, Tim, Thank you!  I had no idea there was a radio chooser on SmartSDR CAT. After your suggestion, it took only a minute to switch the network to my iPhone hotspot, right-click on CAT, and make it work.

Thanks again!

Also at the top right-hand corner of the CAT window where it says radio connected, if you do a right mouse click you can turn off the automatic reconnect so that the chooser always appears.  It adds an additional step starting CAT, but it can eliminate the connection confusion.

Tim, W4TME call sign search comes up with a guy in North Carolina. Is W4TME correct for you?

Since I'm previously from Austin, I just thought I'd look you up. Thought it was unusual to work in Austin and have a W4 call. But call signs these days - who knows.

OK.  I was a little worried about a call suffix of FBI, as I am sure the statute of limitations has expired on all my youthful transgressions ;-)

My QTH is in NC.  I work remotely.  In this new world of virtual workplaces, all I need is a computer, a SIP phone and a fast Internet connection.

That is interesting, and it makes me happy that my call is not something like N7SOB or some other "derogatory", imagination stretching call hihi.

I always thought that N9ESE or any number of variations of ESE would be cool on CW...."shave and a hair cut..."

All sorts of cool suffixes to play with. I just worked W3BS on JT65. And before anyone snickers, VD stands for Valentine's Day.
