I've got three computers hookedup to LAN via a NetGear Gigabyte Switch. Computer "A" runs SmartSDR & SmartCAT flawlessly. No problems. After restarting the 6500: Computer "B" runs SmartSDR with no problems but SmartCAT does not show any Flex produced virtual ports. Although the device manager shows all Flex ports. After restarting the 6500: Computer "C" has the same problem as computer "B". I am totally blown away by this. I've tried al sorts of combinations of 1: Rebooting computers 2. Moving connections between switch & router 3. Removing, rebooting & reinstalling the software. Nothing seems to help, except computer "A" keeps running the software after all these girations. I need help. Thanks.

Let me add an addendum to this problem. I'm running Windows 8.1 on all of the computers. SmartCAT creates a port for 3rd party software but does not display it on computers "B" & "C".

Bob, If I understand correctly, you have CAT running on three separate machines and are looking for the ports created on machine A to also appear on machines B & C. Serial ports are not visible across the network (they can be but not in this version of CAT). Each instance of CAT can create ports on the host machine, and each instance of CAT can talk to third-party programs running on that machine. Each instance of CAT can talk to the radio on the network. What is your goal here? Maybe I can suggest some things to try. Bob, K5KDN

Bob, I'm not running the three computers together. If I run computer "C", I expect to see the applicable Flex comm ports in that computer to be displayed in SmartCAT. If I look in computer "B" device manger I can see the Flex ports that were created. It blows my mind that computer "A" is acting normally but the other two do not. The radio is hooked up to the same LAN subnet.

Thanks for the clarification. When you look at the Main tab on the CAT form on computers B & C, do you see your 6500 listed as an available radio? There is a known bug that we are chasing where, on some systems, CAT does not discover the radio.

I can see my 6500 in the ID window along with serial# and IP address. Again, if I go to the device manager the ports are there.

Are you using the same COM port numbers on each computer. i.e. COM 4 assigned to CAT on all computer. Try assigning different COM ports on each individual computers. Like a lot of network devices, it sees the COM port of the closest device..If the separate network devices use the same COM port numbers there will be a COM Port conflict. Just a suggestion..

The funny thing about this problem is I have not heard from Flex yet. Maybe I never will.

Bob - I do not see a HelpDesk support ticket for your issue. The Community is not where you get direct support from FlexRadio. That is what the HelpDesk is used for. If you are still having issues, submit a support ticket via our HelpDesk (http://helpdesk.flexradio.com) so we can assign you a case number.
