Has any seen this ?

have created some ports using SmartCAT which I can see in Windows Device Manager but when I try to assign a port to Fidig or my Log4OM programs none of them works. I can see my Flex6300, serial# and IP in the SmartCAT main dislay. I am using Gigabit network switch and Win8,1

Any ideas ?

I have just been struggling with a similar issue, which I did not encounter on all my PCs. I won ;-).

I did not have to create any extra ports to do what you want.

I assume that your are trying to get Fldigi and Log4OM set up so that they work together as per page 169 of the Log4OM manual...yes?  Have you downloaded OmniRig yet?

Yes that  is correct. What I have found is that all of the virtual ports provided by SmartCAT don't seem to work unless I am doing something wrong, but how hard can it  be.....you see a free port and assign it to that device.

It is easy. Will supply full details later. Out of the shack on my mobile ATM. I did my same setup a week or so ago. Stay tuned...

You do not need to create any ports, though you may have to - don't worry about it at the moment.

Read from page 169 of the Log4OM manual.

You will need to install OmniRig first, once installed, run OmniRig to configure it - you cannot change the default location, the top folder of the install is 'Afreet'. This is where you choose the COM port. First, try COM4 which is the default one set up by SmartCAT to control the rig. You *may* have to set up a separate dedicated COM port if that does not work - the piccy at the top of page 170 is what you will see if CAT is not working correctly (Rig Status).

That is basically it. Happy to help with any issues, natch.

I've had the same trouble.  I finally got it working by resetting the rig.  Not sure what happened, but CAT would no longer talk to the rig.  I restarted EVERYTHING several times and finally got it to work.  This has happened several times now.  I use Mini Deluxe and Digital Master.  Several times now, it has just stopped working and it takes forever to get Mini Deluxe back and talking to the 6700.  CAT issue for sure and usually I have to restart the 6700.

I think there is a CAT issue at the moment...I read something about it. But the way to tell if CAT is working or not is to check if the ports show up in the port map...if they do, all is well. From what the OP wrote, he was not getting it quite right - he seemed not to realise that OmniRig had to be installed - I did not realise it either when I first started this quest, hi hi.

I was able to get both Log4OM and Fldigi working at the same time for a while but then Log4OM was not able to see the port. I can see some ports in SmartCAT mappings

DO NOT USE MINIDELUXE

use DDUTIL to do all your connections to HRD

That way u have a 1GB /s ethernet connection rather than a slow flaky serial port CAT connection

Have not tried log4om yet
