Slice Master Does Not Start Properly

I just downloaded Slice Master 0.10.5b as I am interested in the spot feature. I have got it to work a few times but the majority of the time when I start it the screen gets flooded with the little connection window coming in from the right that says "Client Connection from IP xxxx". They just keep coming and scrolling off the top of the screen and it never connects. Any ideas as to what might be wrong??

Thanks,
Harry

It's a bug.  Start SmartSDR first then start Slice Master and it will launch and operate correctly.

Hopefully this will be fixed in next update of SM.

Correction. The endless loop is when SmarSDR is previously running and then Slice Master is started - just happened to me again.  I had to STOP SmartSDR, then start SM then SmartSDR and it works fine.

Is that by chance version 9? Mine was doing the exact same thing. I installed version 10 and that fixed it. Make sure you get the newest version!

Good luck!

FWIW I have run SM 10.5, 10.5a and 10.5b and have not had this happen with any of these versions.  I do habitually start SDR, then SM in that order.

As Roger I haven't seen this either,  My startup is SSDR,followed by Slicemater once SSDR is up and running.

Hi Folks... sorry for the trouble.  What you are seeing is a bug.  When I do my testing I almost always have SSDR running first.  So that's most likely to do the right thing.  It should also just sit there without much to do if SSDR is not running or if the radio is turned off.

The endless connection messages, in the past, have been due to unexpected information in either the callsign or nickname fields that are stored in the radio.  I thought with this last release I had all of those worked out.  Tracking this down can be a pain and usually requires that I send out a special debug version of Slice Master to the lucky winner.  So if you can make this happen consistently and you are willing and able to run Slice Master from a cmd window, drop me an email.  We can work it out together.

Thanks.

Hey Don...thanks for the info. Well I do not know why my situation seems to be different than the "norm"....that could be me!! Anyway I am willing to work with you on this. Like I said in my post it does work sometimes. Let me know what you would like to do and we can also converse via private email if that would be more appropriate.

Thanks Harry,

Just send me an email with a zip of your Slice Master config folder

  C:\Users\<your name here>\AppData\K1DBO\slice-master

and I'll start with a look in your logs for clues.  The email address on the Slice Master  splash screen or listed at QRZ will do the trick.
